  • Just when it looked like Siena's five-match win streak would come to a disappointing conclusion at McCann Arena Saturday afternoon, the impossible happened. The Saints staved off three match points, rallying from a 14-11 deficit in the fifth set to post a stunning win over rival Marist 3-2 (25-23, 25-18, 18-25, 21-25 and 17-15).

  • The Siena volleyball team has been doing a lot of things right the last few weeks. Wednesday night's performance at crosstown rival UAlbany was not one of them. The Danes humbled the Saints 3-0 (25-10, 25-15 and 25-16) in a match televised throughout the Capital Region on Time Warner Cable Sports.

  • Niagara had won 33 straight matches against MAAC schools entering its showdown with Siena. Combined, the two schools have won the last six MAAC Championships, but for much of this season it appeared they were headed in opposite directions. Not any more. The Saints defeated the Purple Eagles on Monteagle Ridge Saturday, doing so with shocking ease in a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21 and 25-20) sweep that sent chills through the spines of coaches around the league: Siena volleyball is back.

  • The Siena volleyball team faced a classic trap match Sunday, playing an experienced Canisius squad on Senior Day a day after its biggest league win in years. The result was a 3-0 (26-24, 25-22 and 25-18) setback that ended the Saints' seven-match MAAC win streak, and placed critical importance on the final two matches of the regular-season at home next weekend.

  • The Siena volleyball team begins a make-or-break weekend Saturday at home against Saint Peter's in the penultimate contest of the regular-season. The Saints enter their final two games in a tie for third with Manhattan in the MAAC standings. It's possible by the end of the weekend, that tie could involve five schools, as Iona, Canisius and Marist are all within a game of the Saints and Lady Jaspers.

Setter Sarah Sivertson was named MAAC Player of the Week, and freshman Jacqueline Skeen was selected MAAC Rookie of the Week, after the Saints toppled Saint Peter's and Manhattan to secure a MAAC Tournament bid.
